Man Up in Makeup!

Who says makeup is only for women? Guys – it’s time to man up and let the world know that we’re not afraid to admit that sometimes we need a little cosmetic attention. Women can cover their blemishes, why can’t we? Some people might imply that if you wear make up, you’re not a real man, and that’s just not the case. Men have been wearing make up for centuries. For example, Egyptian emperors actually wore make up as a sign of leadership and power. Call me metrosexual, but I am here to proudly state that it is perfectly OK for men to use corrective cosmetics.

When it comes to makeup for men, I’m not suggesting they wear a full face of makeup complete with blush and lip gloss. The key for men is to simply enhance their natural good looks, and conceal any imperfections that might arise.

Just like women, great looking make up starts with clean, blemish-free skin. So fellas, what this means to you is that the old bar soap is not going to cut it anymore. Start off by using a light cleanser, followed by a good moisturizer, preferably with SPF, to protect you from the sun and free radicals. As always, drinking a sufficient amount of water throughout the day will add hydration to the skin ensuring a healthy complexion. MAC makes a great scrub to exfoliate at least once a week to take off some of the dead skin and keep your skin looking fresh.

Men have a tendency to have a lot of blue or purple underneath there eyes making those dark circles look even worse, especially after a rough weekend. To correct this I would use a good eye cream like Kiehl’s Crystal Marine Firming Eye Treatment, retailing for $35.00. Follow that up with a good concealer, and those dark circles will be history.

If you’re looking for a good moisturizer, I recommend Kiehl’s Facial Fuel SPF 15 Energizing Moisture Treatment for men retailing for $24.50. It’s great for adding moisture without making you greasy. Also, the well-groomed man never has chapped lips. I recommend the Kiehl’s Lip Balm, retailing for $8.50. All these products can be found at Neiman Marcus in the Boca Raton Town Center Mall.

Gentlemen if you’ve been spending too much time in the office, there’s nothing wrong with adding a little color to look like you’ve spent some time in the sun. You can do this by using a matte bronzer. A matte bronzer for men can be found at MAC cosmetics.com. But I would advise going into an actual store to be matched with the right color for your skin tone. Golden Matte would be the ideal color for all men.

Last but not least EYEBROWS! In case you haven’t gotten the memo, a unibrow is NOT in style. You guys have to start paying attention to those bushy eyebrows. Getting an occasional trim or subtle pluck will frame the face and pop out those charming eyes! If you tend to have very thick brows you can always tame them buy using a brow gel. At DamoneRoberts.com, you can find a men’s eyebrow kit that has everything you need to trim groom and shape your manly brow. This is a must to ensure nice sexy masculine brows.

I know this might be rough at first but c’mon guys it’s the 21st century and its time for men everywhere to start spending more time on their personal grooming. Join the revolution, Man up in Makeup!

Put Your Best Face Forward: Making the Most of Mineral Makeup

When it comes to choosing make-up, let’s face it, there are so many brands out there and each offers a dizzying array of products, it’s hard to know what to choose that will help you put your best face forward without compromising your skin’s health or your health in general. If you’re like most women, you’ve probably spent a lot of time and money over the years trying out different brands and colors to arrive at a combination of products that work for your every day purposes as well as a few choice items for those special occasions too. With so many options to choose from but no clear sense of how one product or brand compares with another, you may have simply opted for the higher priced premium brands believing they offer the best possible quality. Or maybe you chose a particular brand because it was all the rage according to the fashion magazines, and it seemed like that’s what everyone was using!

Whether it’s products from Estee Lauder, Clinique, Lancome, Revlon, or MAC, if you’re an eco-conscious consumer than you know that a lot of these established and popular name brands make products that contain a lot of dyes and synthetic ingredients that have never been tested for safety. And you may even have noticed that even when you’ve paid a lot of money for a premium brand that sometimes, it still doesn’t feel so great on your skin. If you’ve ever applied a cream or liquid foundation only to find that after a few hours it cakes on, makes your pores look larger, or wears off and needs to be re-applied you are not alone. All that frustration doesn’t even take into account how messy it often is to work with some of these products.

Take heart, with the advent of mineral makeup there are finally some better, healthier options. This new breed of makeup, which has been rapidly growing in the natural products marketplace for some time now, is proving to be far superior to mass-market products in more ways than one.

What is Mineral Makeup Anyway?
True mineral makeup is made from all natural minerals found in the earth that are finely ground into powders that you brush on, or are combined with other natural ingredients to make eye pencils, lipsticks, and cream or liquid blushes as well some forms of liquid or cream-based foundations. But by and large, most mineral makeup comes in the form of loose or pressed powders.

The main ingredients in these formulas is typically mica, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, and pigments derived from iron oxides –all of which can be naturally produced. Mica is a mineral found in many rocks around the world. It is typically recovered from mining scrap, then ground up to create a fine powder that is later added to makeup. Zinc oxide is present as zincite in the earth’s crust. Metallic zinc is melted, vaporized, then cooled and made into a useable form. The process to produce titanium dioxide is considerably more difficult, as it must be purified using other minerals or chemical reactions.

With regular makeup, the main ingredients are typically derived using extensive chemical conversion processes often handled within the factories themselves. As a class of cosmetics, most mineral makeup is safer not just because it comes from naturally occurring materials, but also because most mineral formulas leave out the irritating synthetic dyes, preservatives, and fragrances found in traditional cosmetics. That alone can make a big difference in how makeup behaves and feels, especially if you have sensitive skin.

One of the best-kept secrets about mineral makeup is (in addition to being a lot more skin-friendly) it also makes you look better than most traditional cosmetics! The mica helps reflect light, which can minimize fine lines and dark circles under the eye, even out your skin tone, and effectively camouflage blemishes and hyper-pigmentation. The minerals actually combine with your skin’s own natural oils to help minimize flaws, giving your skin an almost “dewy” look (assuming you’ve selected the right colors for your skin tone).

Because most mineral powders sit on the surface of your skin rather than being absorbed, they won’t clog pores or leave skin feeling greasy or oily. They also manage to stay on far longer than most traditional makeup. Some of the other inherent benefits that come from using mineral makeup are sun protection from the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide (the most effective natural sun blocks available), and in some cases, soothing anti-inflammatory effects, which can reduce puffiness.

Selecting A Choice That’s Right For You
Just like you did with your regular make-up, finding a mineral makeup that you like takes some experimentation and a little trial and error. It’s best to stick with a company that specializes in making strictly mineral makeup products rather than a company that offers some mineral makeup options as part of their larger line or as a brand extension. There are no standards for this type of cosmetic nor is the term “mineral makeup” regulated, so to certain extent you need to be wary of unfounded claims.

Also, understanding the particle size involved is important too. Many companies pulverize the minerals down to microfine, nanoparticle size, which can pose a danger to your health when inhaled. There are many health concerns associated with this relatively new manufacturing technique. Until more is understood about its impacts on the body, it’s best to avoid makeup and other products made with nanoparticles. Companies like Jane Iredale, that specialize in mineral makeup are likely to have the most eco-friendly and skin-friendly products, and can offer the best advice on selecting the right colors for your skin tone.
Application Tips to Maximize Your Investment

? It starts with the right tools and equipment. The right brushes and sponges can make all the difference in the world. And this is especially true for mineral makeup because so much of it is in loose, or loosely pressed powder form. Ask a sales representative what brushes they recommend for use with each product as they do vary.

? Start with clean, hydrated skin and good lighting so you can really see what you’re doing.

? After you’ve put on your makeup, apply a quick spritz of mineral water or hydrosol to help it set. This gives you the topical moisture you need to carry that amazing look all the way through the day. To properly remove your makeup, apply a thin layer of a natural oil like jojoba, coconut, hemp, olive, or sesame directly onto your face and gently remove with a tissue or cotton pad. Repeat until all or most of the makeup has been removed, then lightly cleanse your face to remove any lingering residue.

? True mineral makeup lasts so long, you can sometimes forget you’ve got it on. No need to worry if you forget to remove it. Since it doesn’t clog your pores, sleeping with it on will not aggravate your skin. As with any new product, it’s always best to do a skin patch test before buying, to rule out any possible allergies you may not have been aware of.

Best Concealer: Know How To Find The Best Concealer For Yourself

Finding the best concealer for you is not all about popular and famous brands. There is a lot more to consider while finding a concealer that works best for you. A concealer is a cosmetic product that conceals the flaws on your skin like pimples, scars, acne, and other dark spots. It is important that a person chooses a concealer best suited for their skin because the final result will always depend upon the concealer you have chosen.

Here are some factors that can help you choose the best concealer for you:

• Shade: the very first thing you need to think before choosing a concealer is why you will be using it. Concealers come for dark circles, blemishes, acne and leveling different skin tones. Hence, you need to use the right shade for the right purpose. Concealers at come for dark circles have a yellow base, while the ones for acne have a green base. If you would like to cover the uneven skin tone on your face, then go for something that matches your natural skin tone.

• Consistency: concealers have different consistencies and the results for each are different. A person who has dry skin should go for cream or liquid concealer, as this has a long-lasting effect. Likewise, a person who has an oily skin should go for a cream or powder form. This can cover the dark spots and is known to work best on forehead and cheeks. Cream concealers are best to cover age spots. Concealers that come in a stick form are great to work with for dark circles under the eyes.

• Other features: When you choose a concealer look for ones that are waterproof and long-lasting. This way your makeup will not come off even if you sweat terribly. Right application of a concealer is undisputedly the most important part of attaining a perfect look. Hence, you need to really blend the concealer well into your skin to get that flawless look.

Some of the products which you can look out for are:

• Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 20 Multi-Tasking Concealer

• Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer

• Stila Perfecting Concealer

• Revlon Colorstay Concealer

• Lancome Effacernes Concealer

• MAC’s Studio Sculpt

One must remember that a concealer can conceal small blemishes but they will definitely not hide your wrinkles. Hence, an attempt to hide your wrinkles will only make it more prominent and give a very artificial look. This undoubtedly becomes the reason why one must resort to a concealer only to hide their flaws and not to replace a foundation.

iPhone 4: Is Glass-Gate the Next Antenna-Gate for Apple’s iPhone 4?

Just when all of the hysteria was starting to die down from Antenna-gate the iPhone 4 is experiencing another problem. Apple has admitted they are looking in to claims that slide on cases for the iPhone 4 actually scratch and damage the back glass of iPhones. It is interesting that it has taken this long for the problem to surface, since the iPhone 4 has been out for several months now.

When the iPhone 4 first came out everyone loved it except for one big, glaring problem. That problem was many people were dropping calls. Without explanation and with apparent full signal people were unable to connect. The root cause was eventually pinpointed to the stainless steel antenna, and “Antenna-gate” was born. When the antenna is covered on the lower left hand corner the iPhone 4 can completely lose its signal. Steve Jobs had to hold a press conference defending the iPhone 4′s design and also told consumers how to “fix” the problem. First he simply suggested holding the device so as not to short the antenna with the fingers or palm. This suggestion did not go over very well with customers so a second solution was a bumper to go around the phone. The bumpers allowed for the necessary space between hand and antenna and corrected the drop in connectivity. Apple went on to offer a free bumper or case to all who purchased the iPhone 4 prior to September 30, 2010.

When the iPhone 4 was released many people remember that there was not a huge selection of cases available. The bumpers were the only real accessory besides several pop on phone covers. Now, the market is flooded with different kinds of covers that are available for purchase. The time it took for new slide on cases to reach market could be the cause for the delay in the breaking of the latest news. The “ultra-tough” Gorilla glass that is on the back of the iPhone 4 is very easily scratched. In fact, a recent survey by Cult of Mac shows that three fourths of respondents with a slide on case for the iPhone 4 report scratching and cracking of the glass. Only one fourth of the people said that they did not have a problem using slide on cases.

It still remains to be seen if the new defect for the iPhone 4 will be as huge of an issue as antenna-gate, though I’m not the first to use the term “Glass-gate”. People are usually more forgiving of a cosmetic defect than one that destroys the usefulness of the phone. Still, the phone is not meeting the ridiculously high expectations that people have for it. Through standard use of the device with cases recommended by Apple, it is being damaged. Furthermore, Apple has already pushed back the release date for the white iPhone 4 several times. Could the glass scratching and cracking be the real reason they have had “manufacturing issues?” In any event, Apple will have to address and fix these problems if they are to remain on top of the smart phone game.

How To Reduce Your Waistline Without Sit-ups And Crunches

Having a toned and trim waistline has always been a goal for most men and women of just about any age. At the health club you find all kinds of people signing up for classes designed for reducing their waist and promising to do it fast. The fact of the matter is that making changes to your body takes time and there is no quick fix but with a little patience you can begin to see results in a couple of weeks.

For the most part people want to reduce their waistline for cosmetic reasons but you should really be concerned about reducing it for health reasons. Many medical studies have demonstrated that a waist measurement of over forty inches for men and of over thirty five inches for women puts you at a highly increased risk for stroke and heart disease. This gives you a reason much more important than appearance to slim up.

The reduction of your waist should be done by employing diet and exercise at the same time. It doesn’t do you a whole lot of good if you go to the one hour abdominal aerobic class and then follow it up with a Big Mac and fries. If you want to be successful you need to include both a regular exercise regimen and a reduced caloric intake.

Contrary to all the late night infomercials and fad diet advertisements there is not a specific type of diet that you need to follow, just reduce calories and fats, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables along with adequate protein for your lean body mass and drink plenty of water. Keeping a journal or diary of everything you eat can help you stick to it and keep you from cheating. If you want a super slim waistline, avoid eating too much fiber as well which leads to bloating.

Next on the agenda is some good old fashioned cardio. Some aerobic exercises are better than others but any exercise is better than nothing! Some of the better fat burning exercises include swimming, interval training, speed walking, and low impact aerobics. Swimming is a great calorie burner and doesn’t put any stress on your joints. Speed walking is something that just about anyone of any fitness level can get into and increase the duration and intensity over time.

Interval training and low impact aerobics are easiest to employ if you have access to a gym. With interval training you will burn a significant amount of calories and aerobics are a super quick way to get in good cardiovascular shape and lose weight and inches all at the same time.

You don’t have to do sit-ups and thousands of crunches for a lean waistline; as a matter of fact these things will make your waist thicker. Try an abdominals class at your gym instead that focuses more on aerobics.

How to Spot MAC Pigment Fakes on eBay

eBay…the land of online deals! There are so many great items that can be found on eBay, computers, clothes, jewelry, and even makeup! Their are some incredible makeup deals on eBay especially with M.A.C. cosmetics pigments, that seem just too good to be true, and in many cases they are! With M.A.C. pigments retailing for $19.50 each brand new, it’s hard not to get excited when you see 6 “New In Box M.A.C. pigments selling for $20 or more popular lately 50+ “New In Box M.A.C. pigments” selling for $120 (that’s less than $2.50 each), but trust me beware. Below I have listed some key things to watch out for when making a M.A.C. pigment purchase on eBay.

First and foremost, be sure that the auction description actually lists the pigment names that are for sale rather than it just saying something along the lines of “assortment of pigments.” This sounds obvious, but you would not believe how many auctions there are that only include a picture of the pigments and disregard listing the shades, and there is a reason for this…they’re fake!

You see instead of naming the shades, this line of M.A.C. fakes have created a letter and number system, for instance M.A.C. has a pigment called Deep Blue Green, instead the fakes may put a label on it called something like “A15.” Real M.A.C. pigments are never labeled like this and are always labeled by their name. More than likely the sellers of these fakes probably won’t list the pigments by “A15″ and will rather only include a picture, so be sure to ask.

The next set of things to look out for are really hard to figure out without having the item in hand, so be sure to ask the seller all of the following points, or if it is too late and you have already won the item be sure to closely examine it when it arrives before you leave the seller feedback.

These are the following points to ask the seller/look out for in addition to the previous point:

1. Is the bar code on the bottom of the box printed on, or is it a bar code label that is a sticker? If the bar code is printed on the box, it is a fake. Authentic M.A.C. products’ bar codes are a label that is like a sticker. Not sure? Rub your finger over it, if it’s smooth, it is printed on and if it feels raised it a sticker like label.

2. When you open the jar is it sealed by a smooth piece of plastic or does the plastic raise up like the tip of a crayon and have a hole in it? True M.A.C. products are sealed by a smooth piece of plastic and will never have a hole in the middle of it.

3. What is the consistency of the pigment? Is it smooth or does the pigment have lots of clumps and balls in it? Real pigments are always smooth in consistency and should never appear clumpy like the fakes very often do.

4. Carefully examine the back of the jar for misprints. Often the fakes will spell words such as “pigmentos” like “plgmentos”

5. What do the labels say? On a real pigment there will be 2 labels naming the shade, one will usually be on the top right hand corner of the top of the box and the other will be placed underneath the jar itself. With the fakes there are usually 2 labels but instead of the name of the pigment, you will see that letter and number code. Be sure to also pay attention to the placement of the label on top of the box. Again on a real pigment the shade is usually on the top right hand corner towards the back on a fake, it is still on top of the box but towards the front corner.

It is very important to ask the seller as many questions as possible to prevent you from being “duped.” Believe it or not you may make the seller aware that he/she is selling fakes because sometimes they bought a huge auction of these themselves with plans to profit by selling them individually, all the while they have no idea that they are selling fakes. These fakes can potentially be very dangerous, for the simple fact that you are putting them on your eyes and you have no way to tell whats in them or where they came from. It could contain things such as formaldehyde a very toxic chemical or lead or basically anything that it takes these imposters to make the knockoff look as close to authentic as possible. Since they are knockoffs they are not going through any kind of screening or regulation process that monitors what they are made with and therefore anything goes.

So please be careful when buying these.

Toronto Real Estate Luxury Neighborhoods

The Toronto Real Estate market offers a wide variety of luxurious, captivating neighborhoods to choose from. Although there are many affluent areas that I could include, this report focuses on four of the most attractive and exquisite…

Rosedale
Yorkville
Forest Hill
The Bridle Path

Let’s begin with…

Rosedale

Rosedale is home to one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Toronto.

In fact, it is considered amongst the most desirable neighborhoods in Canada to live. It’s where the city’s “old money” lives and is home to some of Canada’s richest and famous people.

Rosedale’s unique beauty is surrounded by ravines and park lands that makes you feel as though you are far from the city. Yet, in reality, you are only minutes away from the heart of downtown Toronto.

Yorkville

Yorkville is an affluent neighborhood and is one of Toronto’s finest shopping districts. Along with a wide choice of options such as fine dining and theater, it offers a wide selection of luxury homes.

In the 1960′s, Yorkville flourished as Toronto’s bohemian cultural center. It was the breeding ground for some of Canada’s most noteworthy music artists, including Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot.

It was also known as the Canadian capital of the hippie movement.

Today, some of the city’s most exclusive retail stores line its streets, including…

- Prada

- Gucci

- MAC Cosmetics

- Hugo Boss

- Chanel

- Louis Vuitton

- Holt Renfrew

- Tiffany & Co.

- Ermenegildo Zegna

- Canali

- Bulgari

- Cartier S.A.

- Harry Rosen

- Escada

- Calvin Klein

- Cole Haan

- Vera Wang

- Lacoste

- Ferrari

- Maserati

- Rolls Royce

Yorkville is also home to some of Toronto’s more expensive condominiums, with most starting at over one million dollars.

Forest Hill

Forest Hill is an affluent, enchanted neighborhood in central Toronto. Forest Hill Village is a part of Forest Hill occupying most of the original area of the village.

Forest Hill, Rosedale and the Bridle Path are three of Toronto’s richest areas.

The Lower Village is known for its upscale shopping and dining, although the actual mix of stores includes several modest enterprises.

The Bridle Path

The Bridle Path is an upscale residential neighborhood in Toronto that is characterized by large multi-million dollars homes and estates.

It is often referred to as “Millionaires Row.”

Hubert Page, a Toronto-based land developer, envisioned the Bridle Path as an “exclusive enclave of estate homes” and he built the neighborhood’s first home.

Estate prices vary, but the majority of homes sell for well in excess of a million dollars. In a secluded area, these impressive estates are surrounded by lush forests and park lands, which adds to its exclusivity to this elite community.

The Best Cosmetics for Acne

So many articles are written about cleansers, medications and remedies to cure acne. But there are so few articles are dedicated to finding cosmetics that are perfect for your condition. And makeup can either help or hurt your ailment, which is why this is committed to helping you find the best cosmetics available.

1.Covermark cosmetics do just what they say; they cover your acne and do it very well.

2.L’Oreal’s Airwear is used to dot on your face and blend to cover your pimples.

3.Maybelline’s Everfresh concealer and foundation is perfect to cover the redness and acne breakouts.

4.Colorstay by Revlon is a line of cosmetics which will cover acne for long periods of time.

5.Laura Mercier foundation and powder covers very naturally.

6.Derma Blend stick is great for covering and making your skin look flawless.

7.Mac makeup is a great foundation to use when you’re going to a special event and need professional looking cosmetics with good coverage.

Whether you use what we recommend or some other makeup, just make sure it has a non-oily base. Also, wash your hands thoroughly; for at least 1 minute with a lot of anti-bacterial soap, before applying cosmetics. Whenever possible, use cotton swabs, sponges or other makeup applicators to apply all of your makeup to keep your face as free from bacteria as possible.

Remember, cosmetics do not cause acne. But improper application and poor hygiene on your hands and face before applying them can. Be conscientious when purchasing makeup and be diligent in following directions. If this is done properly, you will find that your acne will look as if it was never there at all.

Dirty Makeup – How to Keep Your Cosmetics Safe

Are you a beauty enthusiast and someone who likes to experiment with makeup? Perhaps you are the type who is first in line at the MAC Cosmetics or Bobbi Brown counters to pick-up the latest limited edition products. Like many women you may have a drawer full of cosmetics that you rarely use. Having spent hundreds of dollars on these top quality cosmetics, you are probably hesitant to throw anything away. But learn what may be lurking in your cosmetics and you may think twice about holding on to your old makeup.

Makeup is a virtual feeding ground for bacteria. If a test swab was taken from your cosmetics and sent to the laboratory for analysis, most results would show varying forms of bacteria breeding in your lipstick, eyeshadow, blush and concealer. These strains of bacterium are the same ones that can cause pink-eye, strep throat and other infections. And, can also make you break-out or develop a rash. So how do you stay safe?

Avoid using your fingers for applying your makeup. Your fingers can transmit germs to your cosmetics. Use either disposable applicators or makeup brushes that you clean on a regular basis.Sharpen your eyeliner and lip liners before using them. This will remove the old dirty section and will give you a fresh application with only new, clean makeup touching your skin. You can also do this with your lipstick, blushes and pressed powders by wiping off the top layer with a tissue.Clean your professional makeup brushes. Although using a makeup brush is one way to help protect your cosmetics, they are only hygienic if they are being cleaned on a regular basis. It is good to do a spot cleaning after each use with a spray brush cleaner that will disinfect your brushes. And, a deep cleansing every week or two.Avoid store testers. Although you may enjoy going to your local Sephora store and testing cosmetics before you make a purchase, think about the number of people using those testers daily and how infrequently people abide by the rules of using the disposable applicators provided. Stand and watch people the next time you’re in the store and you’ll notice how many times people put their finger tips in the makeup. Can’t resist from testing? Then wipe away the top layer of the makeup so that you are applying a fresh, unused sample.Keep the lids on all products and make sure that the covers are tightly closed so that dust can not get into it. If you’ve lost the cover then you should discard the item.Discard your old makeup. All makeup has a shelf life. Mascara should be discarded after 3 months. Cream products like blush, eyeshadow and concealer are good for 12-18 months. Your lipsticks, eyeliners, powder and powder products are all OK for up to two years.

In addition to following the steps above, we should all demand proper hygiene from our local cosmetics counter as well. Just as doctors and nurses sanitize their hands both before and after seeing a patient, perhaps we should encourage the same at the cosmetics counter; by requiring spot cleaning of cosmetics and brushes both before and after using them on a client.

So follow the steps above to help stay safe when using your makeup and abide by the old saying, “when in doubt throw it out”. If you have an item that has been in your cosmetic bag forever, it is probably a good idea to throw it out. It is better to be safe than sorry when dealing with makeup that may have become contaminated.
